This is a recommendation I've posted in other threads:
Download a fresh copy of the game. Replace your OOTP application (not the whole game or whole folder, just the application -- you won't need to re-license) with the fresh one you just downloaded. See if you are still having problems. I suspect there is a component of the Mac OOTP application that is susceptible of being damaged, and apparently there is more than one way for that to happen. From my experience, if you replace the application you may never have a crash problem again (though I am keeping a spare copy of the application on hand myself). If you do get a recurrence of the exact same thing, then it's something that needs to be reported as a bug.
The possibility of a problem with crashes in the Mac version was never well established during beta, so it may take awhile for the developers to get focused on it. Even then, it may be difficult to fix, but I've had pretty good luck getting a stable game once I did this application replacement.
