Consider your legendary dragonslayer. Unless the king he is slaying the dragon for has no suitable daughters available then he can only slay one dragon, for after that he will be a married man and his wife would never let him go do such a thing again.
So if a legendary dragonslayer wanted to be a dragonslaying ace and get five or more then he'd have to carefully select his target kingdoms. There's probably a short story in there somewhere.
