Carl Yastrzemski went 4-5 with a home run and 3 RBIs to lead the attack as the Boston Red Sox crushed the Chicago White Sox, 14-2. Fred Lynn drove in three runs with Carlton Fisk and Garry Hancock each driving in a pair of runs. Other runs were drove in by Rick Burleson, Jim Rice and Butch Hobson. An RBI double by Rusty Torres and a sac fly by Bobby Bonds accounted for the White Sox runs.

Lamar Johnson and Greg Pryor each drove in a pair of runs with Rusty Torres also driving in a run for the pale hose. Carlton Fisk scored on a double play ground out and Fred Lynn scored on a wild pitch to account for the Boston runs. Carlton Fisk also stretched his hitting streak to 8 games.

Carl Yastrzemski hit a 3-run home run and George Scott had a 2-run homer for Boston. Jim Rice stayed hot as he drove in 3 runs with Frank Duffy also driving in one for the Red Sox. Jim Spencer and Graig Nettles each drove in a run for the Yankees.

Butch Hobson belted 2 HRs and drove in 4 runs while Carl Yastrzemski drove in a pair of runs and both Bob Montgomery and Garry Hancock each drove in a run for the Red Sox. Robin Yount accounted for the lone Milwaukee run with an RBI double.

Dave May drove in Danny Goodwin from second base in the bottom of the ninth to give the Milwaukee Brewers a 2-1 win over the Boston Red Sox in the rubber game of the 3-game set. Cecil Cooper tied the game in the bottom of the 8th with a solo home run for the other Brewers' run. Fred Kendall drove in the only Boston run with a ground out in the 4th to give the Red Sox the lead. Andy Replogle (11-4) was the player of the game for allowing only one run and 5 hits in hurling a complete game.
