Toledo was unable to catch St. Louis in the standings. In their key 3 game series against St. Louis, Toledo won 1 game, but blew the lead in the 9th in the other 2 games. After those 2 heartbreaking defeats, the Maumees lost their will to continue on in the season and collapsed the rest of the way.
