Carlos Zambrano (4-0) pitched 7 innings allowing 1 run on only 1 hit to hurl the Chicago Cubs to a 7-1 blow out win over the Cincinnati Reds. Derrek Lee was the hitting star, going 2-3 with 2 home runs and 2 RBIs plus a stolen base. Mark DeRosa belted a 2-run homer with Mike Fontenot, Aramis Ramirez and Reed Johnson driving in a run each. Cincinnati's lone run was a solo home run by Jeff Keppinger, the only hit off of Zambrano.

Derrek Lee drove in the tying and go-ahead runs with 2 outs in the top of the 9th with a 2-run double off of Reds' closer Francisco Cordero (1-1) to cap a 4-run outburst and
give the Chicago Cubs a 7-6 come from behind win over the Cincinnati Reds. The Reds had a 6-3 lead heading into the top of the 9th after they took the lead with an RBI single by Adam Dunn, a 2-base throwing error by Aramis Ramirez, and a ground out in the bottom of the 7th. Mark DeRosa, Mike Fontenot, Ryan Theriot, Reed Johnson and Kerry Wood each drove in a run for the Cubs. Rookie Joey Votto drove in a pair of runs and Corey Patterson drove in a run for the Reds.

David Ross drove in the tying and go-ahead runs with a pinch hit 2-run single in the top of the 9th as the Cincinnati Reds outlasted the New York Mets, 10-9. Edwin Encarnacion had a 2-run home run and a sac fly with Jeff Keppinger, Brandon Phillips, Adam Dunn, Joey Votto and Corey Paterson also driving in runs for the Reds. David Wright (pog) had a 3-run homer, plus scored on a wild pitch, and Carlos Beltran had a 2-run homer for the Mets. Jose Reyes belted 2 solo home runs and Luis Castro had an RBI single to account for the other New York runs.
