Tycobbian Union South Division Sweet 16 Series - Game Three

Turon Trounces SA 13-0, Wins Sweet 16 Series
In a remarkable turn of events, the Turon Typhoons trounced the San Alejo Montaneros 13-0 on Scotty Boswell's two-hit shutout. Not only was Boswell unhittable, the Typhoons hit everything in sight and out of sight to stun San Alejo in the third game of their TU South Sweet 16 Series. They totaled 17 hits with everybody in the line-up getting at least one. With the startling win Turon put an end to the Montaneros season and will now advance to the IPA Elite 8 against the Bayview Vikings. Boswell (2-0 1.69), who was only 15-16 during the season, chalked up seven strikeouts, while walking seven in his route-going masterpiece. The Typhoons came back and won the last two games of the series, both at the Casa de Beisbol, San Alejo's home field. There were many other heroes today as C Trace Crittenden (.333), RF George Farley (.227) and 3B Ernie Fletcher (.348) all batted in three runs to lead the Typhoons to the victory. Crittenden went 5-6 with a home run and Farley also went deep. 2B Ronnie Mikkelsen collected two hits, two walks, scored four times and had an RBI. San Alejo hung close and only trailed 3-0 after six innings, but Turon exploded in the late innings against the Montanero bullpen. They beat 22-game winner Alfredo Herrera (1-1 2.40), who gave up three runs on eight hits in six innings.

There is no rest for the weary as Turon will open its Elite 8 Series at home tomorrow afternoon against Bayview. It will be a best-of-three affair.
