Tycobbian Union North Division Sweet 16 Series - Game Two

Red Caps Rap Luxora 8-1, Move Up To Elite 8
At Winchester Park in Oxford, the Red Caps rapped Luxora 8-1 behind the five-hit pitching of Nicky Nicholson to sweep the TU North Sweet 16 series and move up to the next round in the IPA playoffs, the Elite 8. Nicholson (1-0 1.20) did not give up an earned run. Luxora took the early lead with a run in the top of the third, but that was it for them. Oxford countered with a grand slam by RF Dante Vander Meer (.444) in the fourth inning and added on to that in the next three innings. C Brad Earp (.353) poled his third postseason homer with a two-run shot in the sixth. CF Ike Plunkett (.316) and LF Mac Spencer both swatted three hits for the Red Caps. Oxford got rid of losing pitcher Tito Tovares (0-1 8.59) quickly, pounding him for four runs and four hits in three-plus innings.

Oxford will advance to the next round and will be opposed by the winner of the Red Bluff and Tuckanarra series.
