I recently got pointed to Deft's templates for making jersey's and caps. I made caps for my fictional teams and am happy with them. They are no where near as nice as the ones I see many people on this forum making, but there is an amount of pride knowing I made them.

I cannot figure out how to make the Jersey's. I realize there is a tutorial but that is for a different program, I'm using GIMP 2. I also think my question is pretty straightforward as I became half way (1/8th way?) decent with GIMP to make the caps, but am stuck.

As best as I can tell, the primary layer for the jersey is called Gingham. When I unselect all layers but this one, you see the basic jersey. However this jersey is checkered or textured, so when I try to select all of it, or of one section to change the color I can't. I realize this may be ridiculously simple but I just can't get past it. So how do I change the color of the jersey?
