Tycobbian Union South Division - First Round Series - Second Game
SA Evens Series with 6-4 Triumph Over Ginza Ninjas
At home at the Casa de Beisbol, the favored San Alejo Montaneros bolted to a 4-0 lead in the first frame and hung on to beat the Ginza Ninjas 6-4. 3B Paolo Huerta unleashed a three-run blast to get the Montaneros on the scoreboard early. Winning pitcher Ernie Arrezonda went seven innings and surrendered four runs and eight hits. He got some great help from closer Domenico Belizon, who got Arrezondo out of a huge jam in the top of the eighth. He relieved with no outs and the score 6-3 and two runners on base. Ginza scored a run on a wild pitch and cut the margin to 6-4, but that's was it for them against Belizon. With one away he loaded up the bases with an intentional walk, then Belizon ended the threat with a 6-4-3 double play. Belizon struck out three Ninjas and gave up only one hit in two innings for the save. Huerta has two hits and four RBIs to pace the Montaneros. CF Vidal Munos scored twice and went two-for-four in the game. C Tokuma Kubo supplied three RBIs for the Ninja offense with an RBI double in the second and a two-run single in the sixth. 20-game winner Carl Trebek sustained the loss in an ineffective start. Trebek was rapped for six runs and seven hits in just four innings. He exited trailing 6-1.
Game three will also be at the Case de Beisbol in San Alejo. The series finale will be played tomorrow afternoon.
