It's tough not to hand this award to the Cardinals' sensational Brian Barden (.385 BA/.432 OBP/.641 SLG) or Toronto's 21-year-old masher, Travis Snider (3 HR, 11 RBIs, 8 extra-base hits, .484 SLG). But since the entire planet has overlooked the spectacular work of the pride of Voorhees, N.J., Oakland reliever Andrew Bailey, I'm aspiring to correct that oversight. How 'bout these numbers: 15 2/3 innings, three hits, 18 strikeouts. He leads all AL relievers in strikeouts. Right-handed hitters are 0-for-26 against him with 10 whiffs. And only once in 11 appearances has the first batter he's faced reached base. Not bad for a guy who was a Midland Rockhound at this time last year.
