Please see my thread on "managing for an insane GM" in the newbie section. There needs to be a limit on the AI making wholesale changes (i.e. swapping out half the team) in minor-league teams on a day-to-day basis. I guess, if I was designing it, I would a) restrict the number of changes on a minor-league roster to no more than two or three per week (and preferably much less frequently for most of the season), and b) have such moves be for a reason, such as calling up to a higher level or releasing players judged to no longer have major-league potential, rather than just seeing tons of players shuffled between two rookie-league affiliates for no particular reason.

I'm not saying that GMs are supposed to run their organizations to benefit minor-league affiliates at the cost of major-league success, but steps such as this would drastically improve career mode, as you could actually have an enjoyable game out of starting in the low minors and working your way up, whereas the consensus I received here is that the minor-league personnel system is so flawed that the only way to play the game is to start out by making yourself a major-league manager/GM.
