I think the interface for me was easy to learn because on some level it mirrors the interface in the Football Manager games.

Aside from that the interface has to be much more complex than in version 6.5 because you now have a much greater wealth of things you can do inside the game. Think back to 6.5 and compare it to 2009 and think of all the differences in terms of what you can do in 2009 that you cannot do in 6.5. There has to be menus and buttons for all of those new options and that in and of itself weighs down the interface.
