My issue with Ryan Howard is the WAY he hits .279 (lifetime).

I don't think that there has ever been a player, a successful player, with more strikeouts than hits.

Edit: Reggie had 13 more K's than hits. Sammin' Sammy was close.

Thome is almost a PERFECT match for Howard, right on down to the .279 average.

Still, the vast amounts of strikeouts probably stopped him from beind advanced by a full year, maybe two. I still see him with a legitimate chance to hit 500 home runs...although, in ten years, it won't mean a thing.
