Week 3
GM Earle was feeling good, even though they were trailing the Marios by 4 games. The tough trades to get Sweeney and Cruz had literally saved the team from being in the cellar, and the forecast was good. Sweeney had a player of the week award already and was hitting .343, and Cruz matched that BA. Add to that CF De La Cruz, their 1st round pic was hitting .351 and catcher Sykes .314, 1b Barrios .356 - and it was clear the offense was solid.
Pitching wasn't bad either. Three of the first five starters were under 3.38 ERA (Stewart leading at 3.03) but the relief corp was hurting a bit. Needed to see what could be done there soon.
They did need to get a bit more power if they could to add to Barrios bat, but he was a little concerned it was too early to start making changes. Didn't want to upset the cart before it gelled. Besides, there wasn't much of anything on the FA list anyway - it had been picked pretty clean.
Earle wished he had thought more about power in the draft. After he had chosen Barrios, he put power on the back burner and forgot to come back to it.
