A nail-biter today, but the Cardinals held on for a 6-4 victory to complete the sweep over the Phillies and extend the winning streak to 9.
Jorge Velasco almost blew a 3-run lead in the 9th inning as Philadelphia had the tying run on 2nd with 1 out, but Pablo Gutierrez came in and shut down the Philly lineup for the save.
Off again tomorrow, against Brooklyn next.
We're exactly halfway through the 1901 season. St. Louis carries a 50-20 record and a 13.5 game lead.
