The Cards and Beaneaters went long today. Really long.

An RBI single off the bat of Watkins sent the few Boston fans remaining home happy with a 7-6 win in 16 innings.

The only reason it went that far was a Orlando Ortiz triple in the 9th that tied the game at 6. No other scoring until the 16th, and of course I had Pacheco out there once Gutierrez tired. Pacheco picked up his 2nd loss

New York Giants: J. Ramírez was injured while pitching. The Diagnosis: strained triceps. He's expected to miss about 2-3 weeks.

Pittsburgh Pirates: W. Atkins was injured in a collision at home plate. The Diagnosis: sore hamstring. This is a day-to-day injury expected to last 6 days

The Philadelphia Athletics traded 24-year old reliever J. Stanley to the Cleveland Blues, getting 20-year old minor league shortstop A. Langley in return.
