The Cardinals stretched their winning streak to three on the strength of a dominant pitching performance by Jorge Montalvo, in a 4-1 decision. Montalvo went the distance, giving up only 7 hits and 1 walk.
The heart of this offense is still the top of the order, as Preston Thomas, Stephen Downing, and John Burt drove in all four Cardinals runs. All three of them are batting over .500 for the first three games. Other than that, the team isn't hitting very well, but the pitching has been good enough to win.
One more against the Orphans, then the Pirates come into town.
