Golden Arm Award Presented to Sugar Valley Star
The stars will be shining brightly this weekend at the BNN annual awards dinner. All of the major award winners will be there to be honored for their outstanding achievements in the 2001 season. One of them will be Ron Benson of the Sugar Valley Rattlers, who will receive the Ruthlandian Union Golden Arm Award.

He was the league's premier pitcher this past season with a 23-12 mark. He started 39 games, hurled 305 innings, fanned 268 strikeouts and crafted a 2.92 ERA. The 26-year-old Rattlers ace also held opponents to a .232 average and hurled three shutouts.

Benson led the IPA in wins, innings and strikeouts. He was second in complete games with 19.

South Fork's Battle Elbows His Way To TU Golden Arm Honors
Flint Battle of the South Fork Stallions dazzled the Tycobbian Union in 2001, stacking up win after win, finishing the season with 20 victories and 11 losses, numbers good enough to reap the Tycobbian Union Golden Arm Award.

Battle made 36 starts, hurled 282 innings and three shutouts, yielded 244 hits, struck out 165 batters, walked 80 and ended up with a 2.71 ERA. Teams hit .237 against him.

This weekend the 33-year-old righthander will be honored by BNN at its annual awards banquet.
