It's always a crap shoot, but in the early rounds I like college players with high intelligence and good work ethic. Each round I will ask for my scouting directors recomendation and start the review from there. I also tend to see what kind of quality prospects I already have in my minors. If I already have 6 2B in R and A ball, a new prospect probably won't get much playing time. However, I know what you mean. I have had a number of late round pitchers make it to the ML in just a few years. (Also I latched onto a scout with 20's across the board.)
