Fairfax took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the third when shortstop Warren Lee (.318) scored center fielder Billy Echevarria (.266) on a sacrifice fly. The Blue Sox retailiated with a run in the bottom of the inning. Right fielder Fred Collins (.289) led off with a triple and scored on Clay's (.193) sac fly.
