Wilson Tabbed as NL Comeback Player
Houston veteran Don Wilson has been named the Joy in Mudville National League Comeback Player of the Year.
The 31-year-old pitcher posted a 17-4 record with a 3.21 ERA in 27 starts for the NL West champion Astros this season.
Wilson made only one start last season due to nagging arm ailments and was not called up from the minors this summer until June 6. After winning his first start against Chicago, Wilson reeled off six straight victories.
Wilson is the second Astro to win the award. First baseman John Mayberry was the recipient in 1972.
