April 17,18,19 at Dover Green Wave (3-4)

April 17-Sergio Hernandez hit a pair of solo HR's, and Roberto Rodriguez and Luis Ortiz had RBI in a two run 8th inning as Newmarket beat Dover, 4-3. Wallace Harrison picked up his first career win, going eight innings, allowing seven hits and three runs while walking two and striking out two, and John Coury pitched a perfect ninth for the save. (6-3)

April 18-Patrick Gilbert, Pablo Lucero and Marco Diaz each hit homeruns, and Jerry MaCauley allowed four hits and one run over seven innings as the Green Wave beat the Mules 6-3. MaCauley walked one and struck out four, earning the win, while Alberto Flores homered in the loss for Newmarket. (6-4)

April 19-Alberto Flores hit a three run homerun, and Fernando Peralta added a two run shot, providing Jesus Guardado with all the offense he would need as the Mules beat the Green Wave, 8-1. Guardado was fantastic, pitching eight innings, giving up three hits and the one run while walking three and striking out six, picking up his 2nd win of the year. (7-4)

April 21,22,23 v Portsmouth Clippers (7-3)

April 21-Luis Ortiz went 3-3 with 3 doubles and two RBI and Scott Fullerton added three hits, which was more than enough for new fan favorite Jesus Flores, who pitched eight shutout innings, allowing just three hits as Newmarket blanked Portsmouth 3-0. Flores allowed just one walk while striking out three, moving to 3-0 on the year. (8-4)

April 22-Sergio Hernandez had three hits, including a grand slam homerun, driving in five for the game and Scott Fullerton added three hits and three runs scored as the Mules beat up on the Clippers, 11-2. Fernando Peralta had three hits and two RBI, and Chester Griffin helped his own cause with two hits and an RBI, while pitching a complete game, allowing four hits, walking one and striking out six in the win. (9-4)

April 23-Newmarket completed the sweep of the Portsmouth Clippers as pinch hitter Allan Fox drove in Kent Rogers with an RBI double in the bottom of the 9th inning, after Luis Ortiz had tied it with a solo HR in the bottom of the 8th inning, helping the Mules beat the Clippers 4-3. Jose Barron earned the win, pitching 1 2/3 innings of scoreless ball, striking out two and Wallace Harrison pitched another fine game, going 7 1/3 innings, giving up just six hits and three runs with one walk and five strikeouts. (10-4)

-Teams are not letting Roberto Rodriguez beat them. He is hitting .311 on the year, but with just one homerun, that came on Opening Day, and five RBI through 14 games. However, he has already walked 17 times, including 4 intentional, which gives him a .500 OBP.

-Alfonso Munoz of Salem already has 9 homeruns, in just 13 games. He is hitting .377 and also has 27 RBI. He is looking to improve on a season where he hit 44 homeruns and drove in 122 for the Witches a year ago.

-Closer Dylan Roads of the Danvers Falcons has gotten off to a horriffic start. He is 0-4 with a 22.07 ERA. He has appeared in six games, pitching 3 2/3 innings, giving up 11 hits and two walks with four strikeouts. He is allowing opponents to hit .524 against him so far on the year.

-On the other hand, Gerald "Alley Cat" Williams has gotten off to a teriffic start for the Falcons. He has started 4 games, piching 31 innings, and posting a 1.45 ERA. He has allowed just 20 hits and 5 walks with 48 strikeouts, and no homeruns allowed.

Ending April for the Mules are three games in Bangor against the Maine Division leading Crusaders, followed by three games at home against the Orono Riot. After that will be end of the month stats and league standings!
