Three new faces will make their appearances as the Joy in Mudville League playoffs begin Tuesday.
The Detroit Tigers broke the six-year reign of the Baltimore Orioles by taking the American League East title with 94-68 record. The Tigers clinched the division with a 5-4 victory over Milwaukee with two days left on the schedule.
Detroit will host Kansas City when the AL playoffs open. The Royals captured their first AL West flag with a 91-71 record. Kansas City has never finished higher than third place in its history.
The New York Mets are the third new team in the playoff picture. The Mets rolled to a 103-59 record, easily winning the Nationa League East.
New York will play defending JIM champion Houston when the playoffs open. The Astros set a franchise record with 122 wins against only 40 losses.
