Cubs Win Pitcher's Duel
The Cubs came out on top of a 2-1 pitcher's duel with the Phillies Wednesday afternoon at Wrigley Field. Shawn Boskie (1-1) pitched eight innings and allowing just one run on four hits while striking out nine. His performance outdid lefty Dennis Cook (0-1) who struck out five on the day. The two RBI off the bat of third baseman Jack Howell were all the Cubs needed to nip the Phillies in the closely contested game. The loss drops the Phillie's season record to 3-6. They have a day off before opening a three game homestand Friday night agains the St. Louis Cardinals.
