Frogs Finally Win, Snap 10-Game Losing Streak
The 10-game losing streak is finally over for the Fairfax Frogs. It came to an end on the road at Derby Downs in Arlon. The Frogs came out on the long end of a 6-4 scored. Righthander Kaz Hayagawa (9-10 3.98) put on a gritty performance and claimed the victory with some late-inning bullpen help from Takehide Takahashi (8-3 1.42). Hayagawa gave up a three-run homer in the first inning to center fielder Jerry Keller (.299), but settled down and only gave up one more run in the seventh. By then, Fairfax had come back and taken a 6-4 lead. Hayagawa allowed eight hits and four runs, while Takahashi nailed down his 11th save with two shutout innings to finish off the Champs. 5 In a Row for Buccaneers, Top Sox 7-4
At Harbor Stadium in Blue Lake, Bay St. Clair pounded out a 7-4 triumph for its 5th in a row. The Buccaneers lashed 11 hits off four Blue Sox hurlers, led by left fielder Charley Moon (.283) with 2-for-3, including his 12th roundtripper, and a pair of RBIs, center fielder Wayne Latham (.455) with 2-for-4 and two RBIs and third sacker Bobby Tracy (.312) with 3-for-3 and two runs scored. The win went to starter Don Yaden (2-1 3.78), who worked into the ninth. Yaden gave up 11 hits and four runs and needed help from closer Chris Van Arden (3-0 0.79). The stubby 19-year-old righthander did his job very well. Van Arden came on with two runners on and quickly retired the only two batters he faced to wrap up his 3rd save.

Bay St. Clair (38-50) has won 9 of the last 10, but is still deep in the cellar, 14.5 games out. Blue Lake (40-46) is fifth and 11.5 games behind.
