Valmara CF Nets RBU Award
The premier performer in the Ruthlandian Union this week was Jan Szymanski of the Valmara Vipers. The hot-hitting 29-year-old center fielder put up a .429 average and .500 on-base percentage, piling up 12 hits in 28 at-bats, 2 home runs, 12 RBIs and 7 runs scored. That kind of hitting got him the RBU Player of the Week honors.
In 80 games Szymanski is hitting .257 this season for the Vipers with 80 hits, 16 home runs, 79 RBIs, 39 walks, .332 OBP and has scored 55 runs .
TU Star of the Week Named
It was announced today that Cape Coral third baseman Spook Estes had received the Tycobbian Union Player of the Week Award for his impressive play last week. All week long he was terrific at the plate and won the honor with a .500 BA (14-28), 3 home runs and 6 RBIs.
In 2001 Estes has produced 45 hits in 133 at-bats for a .338 average with 4 home runs and gotten on base at a .371 clip. He was obtained in a trade from Fairfax on June 22 for pitcher Kaz Hayagawa (7-7 4.00). He was a backup infielder for the Frogs, but became a regular for the Hurricanes.
