Yes, there are problems with the player development engine and numerous other fundamental parts of the game. However, OOTP does almost all of these things better than anyone else does. While I think it is important that the things that could be fixed/improved are discussed I think it is just as important that they are discussed in a constructive manner and not in a "take my ball and go home" sort of way.
This is a game that has enabled many people who play in many different ways to enjoy it. While it is fine to campaign for the improvements that you want, it is only going to breed bickering and infighting when you do so by putting down the other ways that the game can be played.
