Yeah I know what it says in the rule book (I tried and failed to read a rule out of it in the original thread I linked to), but then the Wikipedia link contradicts that. A blown save and you're done. And you can't manufacture your own save. Which make sense to me even though the rule book doesn't make any mention, so I don't know where they've got that from.
Of course then what about if you go out with the lead but someone after you gives it up, and then the rest of my original scenario plays out?
I think it all hinges on the "entering the game" term in the rule, and what that actually constitutes. I'm beginning to wonder if these would be a scorer's discretion, like the old three inning effective pitching save.
