RefreshLock Home Page

just keep at around 85 mhz,. going higher could damage if your monitor doesn't support the higher refresh rate.

Also, depending if you have an ATI card or Nvidia card, there may be a built in option in the cards driver software. For my ATI card, using the 8.6 CCC, under "display options" there is an option called '3d refresh rate over ride' that should accomplish the same thing.

Quote:
Selecting a Refresh Rate Override

Some applications may have a default refresh rate lower than the optimal setting for your monitor. 3D Refresh Rate Override enables you to set the refresh rate for full-screen applications or games utilizing DirectX® or OpenGL®. You can either set an explicit refresh rate, or make the refresh rate the same as the desktop, or disable this feature allowing the application to set the refresh rate.
Note: On systems running Windows Vista® the 3D Refresh Rate Override is not supported since refresh rate is better controlled by Windows Vista.

1. In the Graphics Settings tree, click Display Options.
2. Select the desired refresh rate from the 3D Refresh Rate Override drop-down menu.
One other thing. If you play in windowed mode, the game should stay at the refresh rate your desktop is set to.

btw, this is a quirk with the way XP handles refresh rates and didn't occur with win98, and doesn't happen with vista, that I'm aware of, and is not the fault of ootp. it happens with most games on XP.
