To expand upon that answer: the in-game league history saves an overall view of history of your league up to that point. You'll get always current leaderboards, player pages, records and team histories (among other things). An Almanac saves a view of your league history year by year. If you want to see how your records looked in 1942 rather than in 2008, you'd look at your 1942 Almanac. If you have the option selected to save Box Scores and Game Logs, you can use the 1942 Almanac to look up any 1942 game. And so on and so forth.
