Hello and let me thank you before hand for your time, (and I'm sorry for the length of my post)
I say Pre-Noob because I do not in fact own OOTP, or any sim baseball program as of right now. You could say I'm shopping.
Currently I'm in a centralized league that uses DMB. I never see the actual simming, the commish does all this. I simply modify my line ups and management tendencies via a web form.
Anyway, I like the commish, and I really like the scheduling, and format of the league. But I'm increasing frustrated with the lack of involvement / participation from other GMs.
I've taken it upon myself to analyze, write and create the web page for a sort of power rankings of the teams in the league, all 30 teams. I do this every 2 weeks. I've also created a trading block page to try and encourage trades (my team is in need of some fresh blood.)
I have the full support of the commissioner, but only 30% of the owners have gotten back to me about this page, and I have no way of knowing readership of the Power Rankings page.
So... I'm looking for a new league / new Sim software package. I'm even open to / considering starting my own league.
I'm curious if OOTP offers the opportunity to run a league with this format:
- 24 to 30 teams
- real MLB players / stadiums / stats
- League would sim 1 year behind current, or would sim current year if a fairly good projections data file were available. (I simply don't care for sims that blast through a season in a 2 month period. I like having 1 game simmed a day, and follows the mlb season pretty closely. I have a hockey sim to watch out for in the winter.
I don't need to be simming games in december.
- 40 man rosters, 25 majors and 15 player minor team (the minors team is not simmed)
- Salaries and contract terms. (possibly even using real life MLB salaries.
I'm crazy right?!?! Is this something OOTP would handle and handle well?
Does anyone play in a league like this now? I would prefer to get into a league, and not have to try and recruit for my own.
