The San Diego Padres and Montreal Expos pulled off a deal Monday morning that will impact the upcoming June amateur draft.

The teams agreed to swap their first-round draft spots. In addition, the Padres sent first baseman Nate Colbert and outfielder Ollie Brown to the Expos for minor league prospect Lee Lacy.

Thus, San Diego moves up one spot for the June 15 amateur draft. The Padres will now pick fourth and Montreal slides back to fifth.

Colbert was batting just .204 in 196 at-bats for the Padres. However, the 27-year-old did have five home runs and 19 RBIs.

Brown, 29, was batting .300 with one homer and nine RBIs in 50 at-bats.

The 25-year-old Lacy will report to Casey-Westfield, the Padres' Triple-A affiliate. San Diego also recalled Cito Gaston and Steve Huntz from the minors.
