Based on the screenshot comparison, I would use words such as "sterile" and "cold" and "formal" to describe OOTP8. By contrast, OOTP6 is warmer and more winsome. I'm not sure how much it all matters, but I'd like to see OOTP9 use colors, graphics, and charts more liberally. Even the "who's hot", "who's cold", and "line of the week" features bring a league to life a bit more.
Here's an OOTP5 screenshot. It would be nice IMO to be able to display graphs of all of the major stats for players and teams.

I always loved that page. The charts for AVG and ERA were a nice touch combined with the text version of a scouting report. It added to the flavor of the game for me. For me, its kinda like the stories and the history sections. Are those necessary for running a team and playing a season out or to make major decisions in terms of player decisions...no not really....do they add to the game....you betcha.
