Some websites are reporting that the reason for the sudden Kessler withdrawal was "strategically timed" with the retirement of Danny Green (WBA Light Heavy champion).
Apparently Kessler is moving up to light-heavy and believes he will be ranked well enough to fight Garay for the vacant title, then be in the mix in a "star studded" division (or the OAP club), with Tarver, Hopkins, Jones, Dawson, Calzaghe, Trinidad, Woods, Glen Johnson.
