Cotto travels to Argentina to try to avenge the only loss in his career up to this point. The Wild Bull of the Pampas comes into this fight in great shape and confident that this fight will end in the same fashion as the first. Cotto lands the first punch of the fight but Firpo counters and catches Cotto off-balance, as the hometown fighter attacks the body of Cotto, 17-4, Firpo in the 1st. The crowd is still standing from the opening round as both fighters exchange in the middle of the ring. Cotto, once again, gets off first, landing a nice uppercut, but Firpo responds and ends up ahead in the 2nd, 20-15. Firpo walks into a hard right and tastes the canvas to start the 3rd. He is down again at the end of the 3rd but manages to get up on his feet and makes it to the bell. There just wasnt enough time for Cotto to finish this one. Firpo tries to hold at the beginning of the round, still trying to clear his senses as Cotto continues to bomb away. Cotto lands heavily that round, 21-5, but it looks as though Firpo may have regained his composure. A three punch combo puts Firpo down again at the beginning of the 5th, and he is unable to get up this time. Miguel Cotto comes to Argentina and exacts the revenge that he wanted with a devastating and impressive KO victory tonight.
