Calzaghe was named the interim CBC Champion when the CBC took over for the former EHBA. At the time of the organizational takeover, Calzaghe was the established EHBA Champion. Calzaghe will defend the title against the CBC's recognized, #1 ranked contender, Peter Jackson. Calzaghe starts the 1st off unusually fast, 10-4. Jackson responds with a nice 15-3, 2nd round. 18-8, Calzaghe in the 3rd. A see-saw affair sees the challenger taking the even round, 16-5. Jackson puts Calzaghe down one second before the bell sounds to end the 5th round. Calzaghe got caught unaware and Jackson landed an overhand right as Calzaghe was pulling straight back. Jackson really goes to work and punishes the champion, 25-0, in the 6th. The momentum is definitely favoring the challenger as we start the 7th round. The champion lands a body shot that backs Jackson up against the ropes. Calzaghe launches an all-out attack that and Jackson seems to be hurt. Calzaghe continues to land blow after blow and Jackson still doesnt respond. In an unbelievable momentum change, Joe Calzaghe continues his barrage of punches until the referee is force to stopped the fight with nine seconds remaining in the 7th round. Jackson and his corner plead their case but the fight has been stopped.
