If I use WinRAR to open the file, instead of save, during the download it automatically places it in a temp folder. When I've tried to move that into OOTP 08 I still don't see any of the Cubbyfan files. I get a default game, but when I try and open it I get a message saying its corrupted.

Don't know as why you get a corrupt message. Start over again.
The folder is in My Documents, saved_games.
That is where you need to place the .lg file in order to make it work.
