I didn't include the kind of 'staggered' playoff system being discussed in this thread, as I couldn't work it into the method I was using to set up the playoff setup screen. But it could be added as either a special option or with the addition of a specialized setup screen.
I've not heard back from Markus & crew about the proposal, so I can only presume it was too much to incorporate for this year's OOTP. There's always next year...

I do hope that they added some basic flexibility to the playoff system. I would love to see scenarios like the Aussie version described above or double elimination tournaments or relegation leagues but I would be happy if we could at least set up playoffs with byes.
My ideal would be a 30 team league with five divisions. The five division winners plus one wild card make the playoffs. the first round would be 3 v 6 and 4 v 5 in a best of three round. Then the top seed would play the lowest remaining seed with the #2 playing the other first round winner in best of seven followed by the best of seven championship.
