I've wanted to have players who could pitch and be good enough hitters to play a position on their off-days. People do it in college and if you want to do it in the game, the players need to be adept at both and in the rotation.

You can insert the player in both the rotation and into the lineup as a regular player, but if it's a computer controlled team, the AI has to be set not to make roster changes or they'll undo it immediately.

Otherwise, it works just fine and they're able to play both ways for as long as you leave them that way.
