Gibson No-Hits Expos
St. Louis--Four days after the first perfect game in league history, Bob Gibson added his name to the record books by throwing a no-hitter.
Gibson, 4-3, walked three and struck out 10 as the St. Louis Cardinals defeated Montreal 2-0.
Gibson's no-hitter followed a perfect game by California's Rudy May. There were only two no-hitters all of last season; this year there have been two in the first month.
The final out came on a ground ball to first base off the bat of Rusty Staub. Cardinal first baseman Dick Allen fielded the ball and flipped to Gibson covering.
Gibson helped his own cause by doubling in a run in the fourth inning. Allen tripled home the first St. Louis run.
