Cuellar Edges Clemente for JIM World Series Most Valuable Player
Baltimore left-hander Mike Cuellar has been selected as the 1970 Joy in Mudville World Series Most Valuable Player.
Cuellar won both his Series starts. The 33-year-old starter gave up just two earned run in 12 innings and posted a 1.50 ERA. Cuellar walked just one batter while striking out nine.
Pittsburgh right fielder was a close second in the balloting. Clemente hit .538 (14-for-26) with five RBIs in the Series. In addition, he hit safely in all six Series games.
Ironically both players were the MVPs of the league championship series.
