The surprising Senators got red hot in July and moved to within 3 games of the A's in the AL. The Highlanders pulled off the blockbuster trade of the year acquiring the immortal Cy Young from the Red Sox for outfielder Cy Seymour and young pitching prospect Red Ames. Young went 7-0 and won pitcher of the month for his new team but the higlanders still find themselves in third place.

Over in the NL the Pirates didn't crumble without Wagner however the young Boston Beaneaters had a great July and moved into second place. The Beaneaters are currently in a second place tie with the Phillies 6 games back of the Pirates who get Wagner back in 3 weeks. The Cubs slumped in July and fell to 12 games out. The Phillies Ed Delahanty got his 3000th career hit in July.
