Secondly, and however, why can't you make it SIMPLE to use. I am sick and tired of searching for them (half of the mod sites seem to be unmaintained); or having to go through some convoluted registration rigamarole when I find it; then having to go through 10 steps -always different - to download it; always with the need to add .lg or change the CPU or find a .rar file ; then trying to find where on my computer they downloaded and then trying to figure out what file they should go to. Then it doesn't work, so I start over. This is insane!

The fact that all you mods makers can make mods means this is all straightforward to you...but not to many of the rest of us.

a couple of years ago, probably for OOTP 5 or 6, there was a great download (forget what it was called) which contained a complete roster, photos, parks, and logos. You pushed one button to download it; you opened it and it asked you to check which of the four elements you wanted; you pushed another button and - Presto - it opened everything into the proper folder. Even an idiot, me, can do this.

Can we please move back to this.
Normally I would have just ignored this, but watching my mother now do complex things on her computer, I think I will have to comment. You see, she is old, grandmother old, and she is now able to do almost anything on her computer. For years she complained, like you are doing, and I just simply would log in remotely or go to her house and fix it. Then after a while I said it is time for you to learn how to do things. I told her to search (Google) what she didn't know, to play around with things, to use menus, right click, etc... She did and after a while she got really good. She can now install almost anything on her computer, use her advanced all in one printer, install firefox addons she wants, configure things, search out sites, etc. Amazing what one can do when they don't rely just on others. She made great leaps in one year, so much so that she is probably on par with most people here and she used to barely be able to turn on a computer for years.

Now with that said, simulators are difficult to use. You are aiming high, thus you need to step it up. OOTP is easy in some aspects, but the internet in general is cruel.

Lets start with obtaining the files. You know the links, sure, but you were complaining about MediaFire earlier in CubbyFan's thread. It doesn't get much easier than MediaFire. It links you right to the file. So guess what? If you aren't getting the link, then correct the problem. My guess is that you have Javascript turned off, maybe in the browser preferences or maybe by something like the Firefox addon NoScript. Fix the problem, get the file.

Then where to place them? OOTP is one of the few games that is almost completely straight forward about placement of files. Find the directory for the game you have and you will see where each files go. Photos go in photos, caps in caps, etc... Doesn't get any easier than that. If you don't know, ask, we are willing to help. This isn't hard though.

For the directory, go into your "My Documents" folder. Then if you have 2007 click on "Sports Interactive" or if you have 8 click on "Out Of The Park Developments". Then click the next two directories you see and all of a sudden a window full of them appears. Almost everything goes in there. Just find the directory and place the files.

Have trouble extracting the files from rars or whatever? Use http://www.rarlabs.com or http://www.7-zip.org/ . Then just right click on the files and choose extract here, then place the files inside the directories.

Padres Fan has some nice guides at his site and some direct links to download some files: http://web.mac.com/sixwilsons/OOTPMods/

I don't mean this as an insult, but if you find all of this too difficult and you are unwilling to "Google" your problems or ask us on the boards, then a sports simulation game may be aiming too high for you. There are certainly much easier games or things to do online.
