OOTP8 is not a new version. It is OOTP 2007 with a few minor changes that was released as a result of the company's split with SI. That's why it cost a whole lot less than normal (and only several dollars if you already bought 2007).
Anyway, I have no idea what plans are for future patches or release dates and this is straying off topic. Since we seem to have covered your tech support questions, I'll close this thread up now.
