Inter-Continental Boxing Association Championship
ICBA Title Fight - Crowne Plaza, Terrigal, NSW, Australia
[Champion] Larry Foley, Australia, 15-0-1 (9) vs ICBA#1 Ike Ibeabuchi, Nigeria, 22-6-0 (19)
Ibeabuchi has been anxiously waiting for another title opportunity and gets his chance to win back the ICBA belt. Ibeabuchi is 8-4-0 (7), 1KO, 6TKO in title fights, having previously defended the ICBA championship for six straight fights before losing the title to Foley. Foley is eager to prove that the first fight wasnt a fluke and is looking to move up higher in the world rankings. The President opens up well in the first round but Foley responds and takes the 2nd, hurting Ike with some nice body shots followed by a big uppercut. A big 3rd round, 19-2, for the champion. The 4th is just as good for Foley, 22-6, as Ike is having problems with his defense. Foley again in the 5th, 20-3. Ibeabuchi lands some big shots in the 7th and has Foley hurt, 18-3. Ibeabuchi is cut in the 8th, but has another big round, 24-5, hurting the champion again. Both fighters take the 9th round off and get a little rest. Foley has a strong 10th. Ibeabuchi has been landing some big punches in the latter rounds but seems to be getting fatigued. An overhand right puts Ibeabuchi down in the 14th. Foley seems to have a nice lead as we go to the cards but it looks like the 14th round knockdown was the difference in the fight. Foley is moving towards a world title shot while Ibeabuchi may be slipping out of contender status.
Winner: Foley
Result: (UD15)
Cards: 143-141, on all three cards in favor of Foley.
Punch stats: 269-1049, 25.6% Ibeabuchi - 377-717, 52.6% Foley
