administrator mode - isn't this solved by right clicking the icon and selecting "run as administrator"? If so, then yes, I have tried that and it does not work. If not, I don't know where to look in Vista to change the administrator settings. I assume I am the administrator, however, as I am the main user (only other user is "guest") on my computer.
8.0.00.13 - I just downloaded OOTP8 this morning. Shouldn't that be the most up-to-date version? I've looked on the "download" section of the site and can't find a patch for any of the versions, let alone one for OOTP8. Am I missing something? -

uninstalling - I have had this problem with OOTP 2007 before. I played with the trial version this past august and had the same problem. I did not buy the game then because of the problem. I bought it this time after reading that the startup problem I am having was fixed in a patch. I assumed the patch in the "2007" version was updated in the "OOTP8" version. I did try reinstalling back in august to no avail. I have not tried reinstalling this time. I will do so, but let's assume that this isn't going to work.
I'm pressing here because this is supposed to be a Christmas gift.
