I don't play with 'real' rosters, but since OOTP 8 came with them, I decided to sim 2007 and see what happened.

Here are the top 10 things I learned from OOTP 8 with the MLB Quickstart:

1. The Yankees dominated, winning 116 games and the WS in 6 over the Phils.

2. Brian McCann of the Braves led the majors in BA, hitting .366. ( )

3. The Indians won the AL Central. The Rockies won the NL West. (Good job predicting those two).

4. Bonds gets stuck at 751 homers ( )

5. Joe Saunders (?!) won the NL ERA crown with a 2.46 ERA.

6. A lot of managerial firings. St. Louis cans LaRussa, The Twins fired Gardenhire, The ChiSox fired Guillen, The BoSox sacked Francona, The Dodgers got rid of Little, the Giants went through 2 managers.

7. A lot of GM firings, too. Dodgers, Cardinals, Pirates, Astros, Cubs, Nats, Phils, Mets, Marlins, Braves, A's, Tigers, White Sox, Blue Jays, Yankees, Red Sox, Orioles. Wow, that is a LOT of GM firings. What's going on there?

8. HOF inductions included Sosa, Piazza, Randy Johnson, Junior Griffey, and Clemens.

9. Brandon Webb wins the NL Cy Young, Mariano Rivera wins AL Cy Young. ARod wins AL MVP, David Wright NL MVP.

10. I really really really really like the simming screen with the standings on the left, news in the middle, leaders on the right. Keeping my fingers crossed this is an attainable screen in OOTP 9!!!
I simmed the 2007 season last night (injuries LOW and trade frequency LOW) with the MLB Quickstart. Worst record in baseball: Boston Red Sox. Total stats for teams looked quite reasonable, though. The leagues were tilted a bit toward pitching rather than hitting. Overall, HRs were slightly below RL totals -- except for Ryan Howard. He easily won the Triple Crown by hitting .345 with 80 HRs and 185 RBIs. The runner up in the HR race hit only 45 HRs. I know it's only one sim, but I don't find that credible.
