To a degree, but that is not all there is - It is to hit "effectively" with power-shots being seen as more effective (or worthy) than pitty-pat shots.
Punch Stat numbers about "punches landed" are useless because the stat itself is often ridiculously subjective.....(go look at some of the Olympic scoring....where clear punches landed aren't counted...and clearly missed shots are counted.....It is the same "punch stat" basically we see in Pro-stats often being hyped).
Reality is RG, Punches landed, power shots landed are all asepcts of how a fight (or round) should be judged. If you land 20 pitty-patt shots but run for the round....while the other guy presses the fight and dictates the pace...and lands 12 power shots and a few pitty pat shots.........The guy landing the less number of blows (but of more substance) should win the round.....(even though the other landed more and made the other miss more).
