The game runs fine on my desktop - smooth just like OOTP4. But, on my laptop (where I want to be able to play the majority of the time), it is extremely sluggish. The strange thing is, my laptop is newer and more powerful than my desktop.

Laptop runs XP, 900mhz Athlon, 16mhz video memory, 256k RAM.

I downloaded direct x 9.0 (had 8.1) to see if it would make any difference - it did not.

I closed extraneous processes and that did not help.

I have 15.1 megs free on my hard drive.

The game freezes with 3D enabled, and is extremely slow disabled. For example, sim speed on "very fast" is about equivelant to "normal" on my desktop. Games sim slowly - even the pulldown menus take a second or so to "pull down" so I can see the choices.

PLEASE HELP! I waited and waited for my tax refund so I could get the new game. I love OOTP, but I'm frustrated.
