-Player of the Day: Even though the game didn't matter, Netherlands 3B Marko Markus (FA, played in Tampa Bay organization last year) drove in three as the Dutch team won their first ever WC game, over Canada nonetheless. Dutch starer Frank Kranendonk (Santo Domingo Tigres, 2L) gets co-player of the week for throwing 172 pitches in a complete game effort, rescuing an exhausted pitching staff.
-Australia's amazing run ended, but they should be proud, winning three games.
